RED-WHITE-BLUE SCRAMBLE RESULTS

Birchbank Retirees played their annual Red-White-Blue Scramble today with 48 players attending. It was a perfect day for playing golf after several days of cold and rain this week.

A burger buffet followed the completion of play hosted by the Bistro. Thank you to all the Bistro staff for their hard work and willingness to make the meal a success.

POSTNIKOFF SCORCHES COURSE TO WIN OUR CANADIAN OPEN

His usual playing partner and leader after 2 rounds, Rob Valentine,  didn't play today, so Bill Postnikoff went out and scorched the course with a net 66 for a best 2 of 3 total of 70-66 =136 to overtake Rob and win our CANADIAN OPEN.
Rob will have something to say when they play their next round together.

Richard Dewdney 71-67 =138 and Robin Valentine 68-70 = 138 tied for second. It was good to see those red maple leaf hats and shirts worn during each round by those who wanted the 2 shot bonus for their score.

I was able to get a photo of Bill with his trophy.... looks like he has been working out!

24 RETIREES HEAD TO CASTLEGAR INVITATIONAL

A good turn out for the Castlegar Invitational on June 8 with 93 players from the local clubs and Colville attending. Birchbank had 24 players travel to CGC on a bright sunny day for golf.

Slower than usual greens made Castlegar easier than in years past, but still not a piece of cake. It wasn't blindingly fast on their sloped greens and some putts above the hole didn't run away to hide if the putt missed the hole.

Team results:

1 DOUG FREDERICK, WAYNE DEWITT, DON POOLE, MORLEY LEVICK 137

2 DAN KNUTSON,DENNIS TALARSKI, BRUCE PREEAULT, ROY KEILLOR 141

3 BRAD HARDING, DENNIS EVANS, TOM LUND, DANA SCHMIDT 142

International Challenge results: (Birchbank Invitational score)

1 CASTLEGAR 273 (305)

2 BIRCHBANK 294 (294)

3 CHRISTINA LAKE 300  (306)

4 COLVILLE 303 (n/a)

Next Invitational Tournament:

Tuesday, Aug 8 - Colville (Dominion Meadows GC)
