No downpour for our Masters event, just a frost delay — warmer weather is forecast next week for Round 2. Marlin Frederick leads Paul Troseth by 2 shots after Round 1. Defending Co-Champion Jim Campbell is hoping the warm weather helps his game next week.

Probably no golf tomorrow but the official countdown has started — one month until the 'official' opening on April 1st. (But the skiing is getting better every day!)

TEE IT UP SIMULATOR

Technically it is south of my house, so going south to play golf is possible here in Trail. John Lattanzio and I headed south and played a few holes at Pebble Beach last week on the simulator — what a busy place!

The video I captured clearly showed that we were in mid-season form but need to work on our aim. Too much time spent on the beach...

Incredible Way to Get People Into Golf

 Here is an incredible look at golf in Korea. They have the highest per capital rate of golfers — most never hit a ball on a 'golf course' but are just as keen about golfing using simulators.

Not just a chunk of artificial turf and projected image of a fairway on the wall with a net to hit into, but high tech tee boxes with multiple kinds of turf to mimic fairways, rough, and deep rough as well as real sand traps and putting greens that can change the slope so you can practice specific types of putts. All with realtime feedback so you can see what you have done and why.

BIRCHBANK WINS 2022 INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE TROPHY

The season long International Challenge tournament series came down to the final event at Christina Lake GC where our four man team's 3rd place score of 301 was enough to win the overall championship. For each of the tournaments we pre-selected a different team of 4 players based upon who had entered.

Our 3 tournament total of 889 edged Christina Lake (891) by 2 strokes and Castlegar (893) by 4 strokes

RETIREES CHAMPIONSHIP 2022

 ST. JEAN & TROSETH WIN 2022 TOP SPOTS

First year retiree Ray St. Jean shot a 1-under 71 to win Overall Low Gross  and last year's OLG winner, Paul Troseth shot a net 71 to win Overall Low Net. Great course conditions and weather greeted the 40 members for the mid morning shot gun start.
